You cannot hire them at a price that is lower than their potential value-added.”

Larry Russell presents Never invest solely because of superior past mutual fund or ETF performance posted at THE SKILLED INVESTOR Blog, saying, “Superior past fund performance does NOT predict superior future performance. Only very poor past performance tends to be a slight predictor of more poor performance in the future, and excessive investment costs are the likely culprit.”

Matthew Paulson presents Don’t Watch Financial Shows posted at Getting Green.

Madeleine Begun Kane presents Taxing Times posted at Mad Kane’s Humor Blog.

Tom Hanna presents Financial Roadmap for March 26 to 30, 2007 posted at Financial Options, saying, “The big news for investors this week will be Monday’s report on new home sales from the Commerce Department and Friday’s construction spending report. The housing market is showing great signs of stabilizing, but the picture is nothing if not muddled. Last week’s report on existing home sales showed a 3-year high in month-to-month sales growth, but median prices were still down year-over-year and inventory levels still topped a six-month supply. The new home market is even more befuddled with builder confidence down more than seven percent but builders still plugging ahead to push housing starts up 9%. If new home sales don’t improve more than the increase in housing starts, a new home inventory glut could give those builders reason for their pessimism. Housing market watchers, as well as other investors, will also want to pay attention to the Consumer Confidence Index due out Tuesday from the Conference Board – with gas prices on the increase again just in time for the spring buying season, anyone concerned with consumer spending needs to watch this number.”

The housing market is still worth watching closely and the February Pending Home Sales Index out Tuesday is a leading indicator of existing home sales for March and April.”

(Of course, if the Fed opts for an unexpected change in interest rates, markets are likely to react strongly.) Also out this week are three monthly indicators on the much watched housing market – new home sales, existing home sales and housing starts. The markets need reassurance that housing is stabilizing given the recent bad news on subprime and adustable rate mortgage foreclosures, so any sign of weakness in these is likely to have a big impact on securities.”
